Tayler’s Story

Pregnancy for me was such an exciting time and something I have always wanted so I was so happy and thankful I could experience it but it also came with it hard times.

I struggled a lot with being fatigue, lack of energy and low iron. I really had to learn and be accepting that I could not do everything I once could.

Pre pregnancy I would go on a 40 minute walks and a 20 minute workouts. During pregnancy the most I could bring myself to do was a 40 minute walk.

As the pregnancy went on I started to struggle with even going on walks, the positioning of bub would cause it to become very uncomfortable and painful quickly.

I re-attempted most days as I felt like I should at least be able to go on a walk, but it quickly became another thing I could not do.

And then before we knew it, it was time for bubs to join us. We had planned for vaginal labour as there were no complications known to do so otherwise. After hitting 9cm dilated and being in labour from 9:30am till 4.00pm the next day I was told I would need to have an emergency c-section. This was heartbreaking but the best option for myself and bubs.

After birth I had a lot of excess fluid which made me feel even further from myself, and recovery from a c-section is not easy at all. So the recovery journey took a toll on my mental health for quiet a while. Lack of motivation. Adjusting to our new way of life was all an adjustment.

After 3-4 months I finally got back into my 40min walks, slowly then added in 10mins of skipping until I built up the motivation to get back into doing a 20 minute workouts plus 10 mins of skipping everyday.

All this was very hard to start of with, I felt very unfit, and not myself.

Things like burpees, skipping, sit ups, crunches anything intense or using a lot of by abdominal muscles was very hard for a long time.

Slowly but surely I built up enough strength to move my body and get back to my normal routine, I am doing so now and feel so much better for it and doing so with a lot more ease.

The female body is amazing and I am forever grateful for mine 🤍
