Rachel’s Story
I’m 11months postpartum and I still have a long way to fully recover or do we ever fully recover?
Being pregnant was totally different to what I expected.
I hardly had the energy to exercise when pregnant.
I suffered from morning sickness until 20weeks, finally when the sickness went hello sciatic nerve pain.
I knew my body needed to move and stretch, being in lockdown I had the pleasure of jumping onto Lauren’s pilates class up until 36 weeks.
I was booked in for my 37 week for my last workout however my Bub had different plans the night before.
I felt amazing after a pilates class and wished I started earlier on.
I found the postpartum period extremely hard mentally and physically. Mentally drained with hormones running wild and limited to physical activity.
I was told I had a 5 finger Rectus Diastasis that created extreme back pain, poor posture and constantly feeling bloated 24/7.
I though I’d be able to jump back into movement and exercise the way I use to.
Planning my workouts around Bub and only fitting in 10-15mins a day at home was a struggle, I didn’t have the energy and I felt lost in what I wanted to do as I couldn’t do what I use to.
I’m currently doing 10-15mins at night core strengthening Pilates with stretching and whenever I can through the week strength training and light Cardio.
I still have a long way to go to training at full capacity to what I use to but I am getting there slowly but surely!
