Bettina’s Story

Where to begin with this story of mine!

During my first pregnancy, I took eating for two quite literally! I gained about 20-30kgs throughout and really struggled to find the motivation to lose it.

I think I lost approximately 15-20kgs in about 6 months.

After I had my bub, I was diagnosed with postnatal depression & anxiety at 8 weeks post. I was medicated straight away & this only fueled my lack of motivation & my weight fluctuated even more.

I was lucky enough to have a close friend who was a PT, who helped me get back into the gym (with baby as well!) to motive me to lose the weight

I ended up losing most of the weight, over an almost 2 year period - to then fall pregnant with my second baby!

I knew that this pregnancy would be different from day 1, purely for the struggles I had with my first and knew I didn’t want to be in that same hole both mentally or physically post partum.

With my second baby, I continued to workout 4-5 times a week (F45, Pilates, Walking).

I ate healthy and tried my hardest to make sure I kept myself physically well, but my job took its toll on me mentally come the end of my pregnancy.

I could feel my Postnatal Depression and Anxiety creeping in. So I finished up early from work (7 weeks before the birth) to focus on my mental health.

Physically & emotionally, labor was never a problem for me.

I had ‘dream’ labor’s & would have so many more kids if it was that easy!

So once my 6 week check was cleared (and lockdown was over), I was at the first class at the gym, the first day lockdown was done! Like 5am on that Monday morning! Hahaha!

Now 10 months on, I have just finished a 16 week program with an online coach that I met through F45 and I am feeling great, even though I haven’t trained in 2 weeks.
I am more confident in the gym and feel better knowing that I can train myself & have confidence with my body.

I am able to appreciate what my body has done in the last 4 years and how much it has changed 💕
